There have been a number of events held this term which have meant a lot of work for students, staff and helpers. The PTFA ran a fun and fabulous Quiz Evening, the music department held a wonderful Winter Concert and Mrs Shepheard ran a very successful and informative Careers Evening. Thank you to everyone who put in a lot of time and energy to making these events the success they were.
Coming up we have the Old Boys’ Society Quiz Night and the Father & Son Breakfast. Information on these can be found on our website and in this newsletter.
Parent Teacher Evenings
You will shortly be able to access your son’s report through the Parent Portal. At the beginning of next term you will be able to book a time to meet with your son’s teachers on either Wednesday 31 July or Thursday 1 August. Information will be sent out next term regarding the online booking of the interviews. If you are unable to attend, or spaces have been booked out, you are welcome to make alternative arrangements to meet with your son’s teachers. The most effective means is to use email to communicate.
A number of teachers of NCEA are offering tutoring or workshop opportunities during the term break. This is one of the reasons for our continuing outstanding NCEA results. I encourage your son to take advantage of these opportunities. I thank my staff who continue to give their time so willingly.
The annual Liston-St Dominic’s combined School Ball will be held on Tuesday 9 July at the Grand Millennium Hotel. I would like to thank Mr Leathem for his organisation of the evening. I look forward to seeing the students looking their best and representing our school with pride.
There are a number of scholarships available to Year 13 students who will be studying at tertiary institutions next year. If your son is in Year 13, encourage him to check the information available from Mrs Shepheard. Some of these scholarships are worth significant sums of money and go a long way to paying tuition fees.
I wish you safe travels if you are going away this term break and look forward to a full on Term 3.
Every blessing, Chris Rooney
